First survey complete!

Students celebrate the end of our first survey by making the most of the sunshine on the upper deck.

Thanks to an extremely favorable weather window with sunshine and little wind, and the skill of officers and crew in navigating around dense ice mélange, we have completed our first survey just ahead of schedule! After 4 days in Kangerlussuatsiaq (also known as Lindenow Fjord) we have completed transects into the two main fjord branches, coring activities along the main fjord, surveys of the fjord bathymetry, and some inshore surveys of low salinity waters using the vessel’s motor boat.

We’re now steadily making our way north to conduct our second survey in a slightly smaller fjord system, Sikuijivitteq (also known as Mogens Heinesen Fjord).
